'Getting to Know: The Sound of Music' opens April 25

(4.24.15) Uniquely adapted for youth performers, The Sound Of Music is one of the most popular stories of the twentieth century. In it, a young governess gradually captures the heart of a stern captain and his seven children. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis. The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre. The show won five Tonys, with the film adaptation winning five Oscars, including Best Picture of 1965.
