Explore Skokie's Cold War-era history throughout the Devonshire Manor neighborhood. Meet in the gazebo in Devonshire Park to learn about the site's history as the Devonshire Gun Site, a 1950s anti-aircraft artillery base. Then set off through the neighborhood to learn more about the Cold War era in America, the development of the Jewish community in Skokie, mid-century modern design, the evolution of the nuclear family and second-wave feminism, and the 1960s civil rights and fair housing movements in Skokie. The walk is two hours and two miles long.
