Construction of Anderson Japanese Gardens began in 1978, when Rockford businessman John Anderson was inspired by the Portland Oregon Japanese Gardens. The Gardens were donated to the Rockford Rotary Charitable association in 1998. Jon us for a guided tour of the beautiful Gardens. We will stop for lunch before our tour. Following our tour, we will stop at Valley Orchard for a wagon ride orchard tour and berry picking. Blueberries and raspberriew will be in season. The fee includes transportation, lunch, gardens tour, and orchard tour. The cost of berries is not included in the fee. Considerable walking is necessary at the Gardens, including some stairs and uneven surfaces. Location: Rockford, Il.
