When Mishawaka, Indiana's 'Funky Plastic Offspring' took their fourth World Wiffle®Ball Championship on July 13 at Skokie's Channelside Park, ESPN had a camera there to shoot the final game. With footage in the can, the "worldwide leader in sports" featured the world's oldest and largest wiffleball tournament on SportsCenter on July 18, as part of their 'Summer of Champions' segment.
Over the World Wiffle®Ball Championship's 35 years, it has been featured in ESPN The Magazine, Men's Health, USA Today, The Baltimore Sun, and on Fox, CBS, ABC and NBC-TV, and in the book "101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out." (A second edition of "101 Places..." will be published in 2015, featuring the tournament's move to the Skokie Park District's Channelside Park.) The tournament has hosted thousands of teams over four decades and has made regional stops in Baltimore; Los Angeles; Eugene, Oregon; and Barcelona, Spain.
