Now in its ninth year, original music will again take center stage at Skokie's Backlot Bash when The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Psychedelic Furs, and ‘Tributosaurus as The Cars' highlight Skokie's end-of-summer downtown street festival, the weekend of Aug. 28-30. Fifteen bands will play on two stages over three days, featuring Rock, Blues, Jazz, World Beat, Roots and more.
Grammy nominated blues-rockers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, will kick off the Bash on Friday, Aug. 28 at 8:30 p.m., rolling out new tunes and old, including their hits "Tuff Enuff", and "Wrap It Up". On Saturday, Aug. 29, Britain’s The Psychedelic Furs will hit the stage playing their unique blend of new wave rock featuring ‘80s-era hits "Ghost in You", "Love My Way" and "Pretty in Pink". On Sunday, Aug. 30 at 6:15 p.m., Tributosaurus, a collection of some of Chicago’s best studio musicians, will play the music of The Cars.
The Bash will also host a carnival midway, a large beer tent with a small music stage, the Backlot Dash 5K Run, a children's stage, classic films and kid's activities at the Skokie Public Library, a dunk tank & bozo buckets, a classic auto show, a bingo tent, a sponsor and community resource fair, exhibits at the Skokie Heritage Museum, and on Sunday, a farmer's market and the Rotary Pancake Breakfast from 8-11 a.m., featuring a bloody & mimosa bar.
