The Skokie Park District’s Scott Runkle received the Competitor Swim® National Aquatic Professional of the Month Award at the Association of Aquatic Professionals (AOAP) national conference in Colorado Springs on February 15.

Runkle has been the district’s manager of risk management and safety, the Skokie Water Playground, the Devonshire Aquatic Center, and the district’s swim lesson program –– all since 1999.

The Aquatic Professional of the Month Award seeks to highlight an aquatic professional whose work holds noteworthy context –– a manager who was clearly in the limelight, or one whose work went unrecognized a bit more among other stories. 

The AOAP is a professional membership-based organization with a goal to bring together professionals from all aspects of aquatics to network, educate, advocate, enrich, and improve the aquatic industry across the U.S., and internationally.
