A membership to Skokie’s only off-leash dog park provides a unique outdoor green space for dogs (and their owners) to run free. Located at Channelside Park, Pooch Park features more than 2.7 acres of open area. The park also features separate fenced-in areas for puppies and small dogs, and for agility training. Pooch Park is a joint venture of the Skokie Park District and the City of Evanston.

To purchase or renew a membership to Pooch Park please download the Membership Application Form and the Cook County Animal & Rabies Ordinance Form. The Cook County Animal & Rabies Ordinance Form must be completed by your veterinarian for proof of vaccinations.

Four ways to renew or receive a Pooch Membership:

  1. Mail in documents and payment to the address below and a card will be mailed to you.

  2. Bring your completed paperwork and payment to Devonshire Cultural Center or Oakton Community Center to get your card on the spot.

  3. Email completed paperwork and payment to pooch@skokieparks.org and a card will be mailed to you.

  4. Evanston residents can also bring completed paperwork to Robert Crowne with payment. Paperwork is then sent over to Skokie Park District staff and a card will be mailed to you.

Memberships to Pooch Park are valid 1 year from date of purchase.

 

  • No admission will be allowed without a Pooch Park issued membership pass, which may be obtained here. A fine of up to $1,000 may be levied for utilizing the facility without a proper membership.  (Patron Conduct Ordinance Section 4.05)
  • Dog owners are solely responsible for the actions of their dog(s). Owners must have voice control of their dogs, and prevent aggressive behavior, i.e., biting, fighting. Dogs must be leashed immediately and must exit the park if aggressive behavior is observed.
  • Dogs must wear a current license tag and be up to date on rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella shots.  Dogs that are ill will not be allowed in the park.  Proof of shots is required before membership can be sold.
  • All dogs must be at least 4 months old.
  • Dogs must be spayed or neutered by the age of 12 months.
  • Children must be supervised by an adult 18 years of age. Children will be expected to behave in an appropriate manner: no running, no chasing dogs, no petting other dogs unless permission is granted.
  • Dog owners are required to pick up dog feces and dispose of feces in the waste receptacles which are available throughout the park.
  • No more than 2 dogs per person on any one visit.
  • Dogs must be on a lease in the parking lot and walkways. Owners must keep the leash with them at all times.
  • No alcohol or smoking is allowed in the park. No human food, dog chews, or rawhide are allowed in the park. Dog treats for training purposes only will be allowed.
  • Weapons and Firearms are prohibited.
  • All gates must be closed coming and going.
  • No roller blades, skateboards, strollers or bikes are allowed in the park.
  • Pinch/choke collars are not allowed in the park.
  • Dogs shall not be allowed to dig holes in the park grounds.
  • Dogs over 35 pounds will not be allowed in the small dog area.
  • Dogs over 12 months old will not be allowed in the puppy area.
  • Owners are liable for damage/injury by their dog(s)/to another dog, person or park property.
  • Complaints or grievances may be submitted electronically here. If complaints are registered regarding aggressive behavior of your dog, or non-adherence of rules, membership may be revoked. Each incident will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • The Skokie Park District and the City of Evanston are not responsible for the actions of the dogs and their owners. You enter this facility at your own risk, be responsible and respect all other members of the park.
