The Village of Skokie has opened up its eleventh food compost drop-off site at the park district's Navajo (Diné) Park. Residents may drive through the adjacent alley to access it.
The site was selected to fill in a geographical gap in the program. Food scraps, including meat, dairy, and bones are accepted. CMA certified liners are allowed, but not allowed in the bins are plastic bags or food containers such as deli containers, tin cans, or glass jars.
Park district food composting stations are also located at Central Park, Devonshire Park, Hamlin Park, Oakton Park, Schack Park, Timber Ridge Park and at the Weber Leisure Center.
