Jon Marquardt was recently appointed as the superintendent of facilities for the Skokie Park District.
As one of four division heads, Marquardt now administers the district’s revenue facilities and their staffs, which include the Skatium Ice Arena, Weber Park Golf Course, Skokie Sports Park, Tot Learning Center and both district pools. He oversees the marketing and communications department, the district’s sponsorship program, athletic affiliates and league programming, and serves as the chairman of Skokie’s Backlot Bash organizing committee. He also is charged with developing innovative partnerships and outreach within the Skokie community.
From 2012-19, Marquardt administered the district’s recreation programs and childcare services, including six district facilities. He oversaw the management of district special events and summer camps, and managed the district’s recreation personnel. He also served as chairman of the Skokie Festival of Cultures and worked on diversity initiatives with community members.
Marquardt also previously served as manager of the district’s Weber Leisure Center, manager of the Fitness First health club and worked as athletic supervisor at the Winnetka Park District and for the City of Lake Forest.
He graduated from Elmhurst College with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. Marquardt is a certified park and recreation professional (CPRP) and serves on the National Recreation and Park Association’s CPRP exam committee. He also holds certifications in sports administration, sports first aid, coaching principles, personal training, CPR, and AED (automated external defibrillator) instruction. He was named the district’s full-time employee of the year in 2010.
Marquardt lives in Arlington Heights with his wife and two daughters. In his spare time he enjoys home renovation projects, mixed martial arts and working out.
