Now in its fifteenth year, original music will again take center stage at Skokie's Backlot Bash when Kid ‘n Play, Vertical Horizon, Michael McDermott, and ‘Tributosaurus becomes The Kinks' headline Skokie's end-of-summer downtown street festival, August 26-28. Sixteen live acts will play on two stages over three days, featuring rock, hip hop, folk, roots, funk and more.
The Bash will kick off on Friday night with hip hop stars Kid ‘n Play performing hits like “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody,” “Funhouse,” and “Rollin’ With Kid ‘n Play.” Saturday will feature ‘90s alternative rockers Vertical Horizon, playing chart toppers "Everything You Want" and "You’re a God." Support acts for Vertical Horizon include Chicago’s Michael McDermott and Scott Lucas and the Married Men. On Sunday, Tributosaurus, a collection of some of Chicago’s finest session musicians, will play the music of The Kinks.
The Bash will also host a carnival midway, a large beer tent with a small music stage, a 5K Run and Kids’ Color Fun Run, family and kid's activities at the Skokie Public Library, a classic auto show, a bingo tent, exhibits at the Skokie Heritage Museum –– and on Sunday, a farmer's market and the Rotary Pancake Breakfast from 8-11 a.m., featuring a bloody mary & mimosa bar.
