The Skokie Park District won first place in the Illinois Association of Park District's "Give Us Your Best Shot" photo contest today, with freelancer Jerry Daliege's photo entitled “Ice Show Star” winning the top prize in the contest's sports category. The photo was taken at the district's Skatium Ice Arena.

Staff photographer Rafael Gomez won an honorable mention award, also in the sports category, for his hockey photo entitled "Hockey Jailbreak."

This year's photos contest submissions included more than 300 entries. The district's communications and marketing department has won 23 state design, publication and photo awards since 2004.​
