Rise in COVID-19 cases results in new state requirements

As a result of the dramatic increase in coronavirus cases throughout Illinois, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced this week new Tier 3 COVID-19 mitigation requirements that will take effect statewide beginning this Friday, November 20.

According to the new rules, on Friday, the Skokie Park District will close down most of its facilities and programs until further notice. (See specifics below.)

“As always, the health and safety of all Skokie Park District users is our priority,” said Executive Director Michelle Tuft. “As we open and close according to guidance from state and local health officials, we will continue to create new recreation opportunities for Skokie families to enjoy, be they in person or virtual. We will also continue to communicate district facility and program status changes as quickly as possible.”

Programs
Many current programs have been suspended or cancelled. Participants will be contacted regarding program status and virtual options. Future programs remain open for registration, pending possible changes due to COVID-19 guideline changes. The district’s Learn & Play program will go forward.

Rentals
Rentals at all facilities have been cancelled until further notice.
