Sports Park East concepts narrowed to two by Park Board

(8.3.15) District commissioners narrowed the number of design concepts for "Skokie Sports Park East" (at McCormick & Oakton) from three to two, at the July 21 meeting of the park district board.

District consultants from Gewalt Hamilton Inc., and The Lakota Group, presented three conceptual master plans, which included new features such as baseball, softball, soccer and cricket fields, a playground, a sprayground, a walking path, fitness stations, an improved golf clubhouse, a golf short game area, restrooms, landscape improvements and various parking options.

The board eliminated one concept, leaving two remaining viable options. Both are still being refined and are not final (see below). The next steps will include developing a funding strategy and presenting a final concept to the community. No immediately timeline has been established yet for either.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago property was recently remediated and is leased for use by the Skokie Park District. It is adjacent (east) to the current Skokie Sports Park golf range, mini-golf and batting cage facility.
