'Commit 2 Be Fit' this fall!

(7.28.14) The Skokie Park District offers a wealth of programs every season that promote physical activity, proper nutrition, mental and intellectual pursuits, socialization, and staying in touch with the environment — all of the components that will keep your mind, body and soul, healthy and fit.

This fall — in addition to our more obvious offerings, such as joining the Fitness First health club or running the Backlot Dash 5K — take a look at a few of our more unique programs and places, all of which offer varying levels of health and wellness, as well as a chance to visit fun and interesting places in Skokie.

Historic Bike & Walking Tours
Fall’s beautiful colors should be on display when you stop by the Skokie Heritage Museum on any Saturday in October to pick up a map for your self-guided bike or walking tour of historic Skokie. Walking tours begin at the Museum; bike tours begin at nearby Emily Oaks Nature Center.
Discount: Stop by the Museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on any Saturday in October. Along with your tour map, you will receive a coupon for 15% off of any park district program.*

Fall into Health Fair
Learn to take charge of your health and feel great! This Nov. 15 free fair includes activities for all ages, samples and health advice, testing and screenings, and physical, emotional, financial and home health education! Our staff will also give you fitness tips and a tour of the Fitness First health club. After visiting, play a round of golf at the adjacent Weber Park Golf Course or register for a skating program at the Skatium Ice Arena, located down the hall.
Free at the health fair: A one visit guest pass to the Fitness First health club.

Kids in the Kitchen at Devonshire Cultural Center
Your child will have an easier time steering clear of processed foods after he or she learns to cook! In this special four-week class, kids ages 6-11 will mix, chop, and stir – and then take their new concoctions and recipes home. While you are at Devonshire, burn a few calories on the walking track or basketball court, or take the little ones to the Born Learning Trail.
Discount: Register for Kids in the Kitchen and receive a buy-one-get-one-free pass to The Exploritorium.

*Offer valid through Dec. 31, 2014. 15% off only applies to one (1) program or event registration. The total registration fee for the event or program must be under $250.
